Almost all women have some natural asymmetry to their breasts, whether it’s a slight difference in shape or size. Often this is only minor. But, when the difference is significant, it can make finding a well-fitting bra challenging and may cause embarrassment. While corrective breast surgery is an option, it can be complicated and not always straightforward.
Typically, women prefer to match their smaller breast to the larger one. However, inserting an implant into the smaller breast may not be the best solution as it can cause the breast to lift and sit higher. As a result, the breasts end up looking symmetrical in a bra, but when the bra is taken off, the breast with the implant will appear pert, while the other breast will sag. In most cases, it is usually easier to attain symmetry by making the larger breast a little smaller, to match the smaller one. This may leave some scars, but the result is a more balanced look. This type of breast surgery would also be beneficial if you have tuberous breasts, where the breast has a tubular shape as the lower part of the breast is underdeveloped compared to the rest of the breast.
It is important to have a long discussion with Graham regarding your options if you are thinking about unequal size correction breast surgery. Graham can perform single-stage breast surgery or staged procedures with or without implants to deliver the best results for you to feel comfortable and confident with your body.
This lady had breast asymmetry caused by a tuberous breasts deformity. You can see that the inframammary fold, which is where the breast meets the chest wall is different each side. The actual breast base is smaller in her left breast so when the breast develops, it pushes forward, making the nipple areola complex and large but not filling the breast towards the cleavage area. By the use of breast implants, combined with uplift surgery, a more balanced view can be achieved.

This was a difficult case because the chest wall is also a-symmetrical. The sternum or breastbone is indented slightly, which is called pectus excavatum. What tends to happen with this shape is that the lower ribs below the breasts tend to push forward and the breasts tend to sit more towards the front of the chest rather than point directly forward. Using breast implants combined with uplift surgery, a more symmetrical result is achieved, and this would make quite a difference in a bra. It’s difficult to get this perfect, but certainly, the patient was very happy with the result.
Tuberous Breast deformity. A difficult problem to correct fully. This procedure involved the use of breast implants combined with mastopexy. The breast tissue has stretched causing the skin to develop some stretch marks on the right. But certainly, in a bra this has made a huge difference.
