Face and neck lift surgery/rhytidectomy is an operation to tighten and lift the soft tissues of your face and neck and targets areas below the eyes. Most patients want a natural-looking result and do not wish to appear “pulled”. A successful facelift surgery will result in a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance, with the main improvement being in the jawline/jowl area.
As you get older, the effects of gravity can cause the skin and soft tissues of your face to droop and sag.
Facelift surgery may be the right choice for you if you have noticeable folds around your nose and mouth, a loss of cheek definition, or a double chin.
The face and neck lift surgery is performed under a general anaesthetic and usually takes about two to three hours. There are many types of facelifts and Graham Offer uses different techniques depending on the patient and the problem. He will carry out a detailed assessment to ensure safety and comfort before determining if face lift surgery is appropriate for you. Graham uses whichever technique is appropriate for each case. For example R lift, MACS lift, SMAS lift and Deep Plane facelifts. Each is modified to suit the needs of each patient.
SMAS and Deep plane face lift surgery – A small cut will be made on both sides of your face in the hairline around your ears. The incision will go under the deeper layer of tough tissue (SMAS layer), lifting and tightening it. The skin towards your ears will then be tightened and any excess will be removed.
MACS face lift surgery – The SMAS layer will be tightened with suspension stitches to avoid cutting underneath it. This involves less surgery but the results may not last as long.
Other types of face lift surgery – These include the mid-facelift and composite facelift and involve lifting deeper layers of the face. Cheek/midface lifts can be employed to improve the cheek/lid junction, especially when combined with blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery).
Please see the factfile for more information.
A SMAS lift, to lift the jowls. The cheeks are also lifted.

SMAS lift plus eyelids. The jawline and cheek/lid junction is rejuvenated.
With this lady Graham performed an Upper and Lower Lid Blepharoplasty combined with a cheek lift and a face lift. The side views show the effect on the jawline, but there is a large effect upon the cheeks/mid-face.

Another SMAS lift. The lower face, jawline and neck are more angular and youthful after the surgery. Graham also performed upper lid blepharoplasty, to improve the appearance of the eyes at the same operation.
Graham performed an extensive SMAS face/neck lift for this lady. Some liposuction was also required (Bodyjet).
